Understanding: Publishing content and tags

There might be occasions when you will want to publish content from one experience to another or use multiple tags for sorting or filtering of content. This article is providing guidance for the most commonly used scenarios and how to publish entries and social content.

First of all, it is important to know that there is a difference between how user-generated content collected through a competition as an Entry and publicly available content ingested via Feeds from social networks is handled. Secondly, there is a slight difference between Giveaways (Photo, Caption, Video, Instagram, Twitter, Hashtag or Advanced Hashtag Giveaway) and Contests. Giveaways use a social wall module for displaying content, while in Contests, Entries gallery will be the module of choice that supports campaign phases (Entries, Voting, Judging, Winners Selection) that are unique to Contests. To learn more about it, please see this article.

Publishing Entries from UGC Giveaway

When publishing entries to a Social Wall in a UGC Giveaway of any type, the Setting of a Social Wall module should be set to display content from “Experience Collection”.  To publish an entry:

  • Open your Experience, click ¬ Entries on the left navigation menu.
  • Highlight an entry you would like to Publish as content, click p Publish as content on the top menu bar or hover over the ¬ menu and click on p from there.
  • You can select multiple items at once with the Shift and/or Control keys.
  • On the Publish as a content screen, you can do the following:
    • Choose collection - this is where you would use Experience Collection if you want entries displayed on the social wall in your current experience, Other Collection may become handy when you want to use the piece of content in other social display or an experience.
    • Set the prominence of the UGC, which affects how UGC is displayed if certain social wall styles are selected in the Social Wall module.
    • Assign tags, this allows you to create groups of content that can be used for filtering and sorting of content.
    • Edit content, this allows you to edit & modify content headline, caption & edit thumbnail, and main asset.
    •  Set winners, view number of votes and ratings.
  • Click on y Save in top right hand corner to publish your content. The status of that item will now be shown as Published and will appear on your live campaign within the Social Wall module.

Once you publish an entry, the experience will automatically create a Collection in the Content section of the Cheetah Experiences Platform. You will be able to find it under the name of your experience and all published content will be in the “Published” section.

UGC Giveaway Publishing Scenarios

Using an entry in another social display outside of the original experience:

  • Scenario 1: You may want to use a great piece of UGC in another experience of yours - may be on an evergreen social wall on your product pages or an in-venue collage in your store and more.
  • Scenario 2: You are running multiple giveaways but want all entries to be published into one experience or one social wall.
  • Solution: As mentioned above, you can simply publish an entry to Other Collection. Alternatively, you can also go to Content > your Collection > select content you want to reuse in another collection and click on 5 Copy to Collection and select the collection where you want the content to appear.

Combining giveaway entries with generic social content:

  • Scenario: There may be cases wherein one social wall, you want to combine entries you received through a giveaway with content from generic social feeds (i.e. Upload a photo of your pet + content from #purina on Instagram)
  • Solution: You can either publish content to a collection with your brand social feeds already set up, or, you can go to Content > Collection > Your Giveaway Collection and set up all your additional feeds there and moderate content from that Collection.

Display only content from a collection with a specific tag:

  • Scenario: Imagine that you are running a contest for the cutest pets and want to display content with puppies separately from the one with kittens.
  • Solution: When publishing an entry, assign your selected tag (i.e. ‘puppy’) to a piece of content as described above. Then set a Content Filter in the Settings section of Social Wall module to display content with a particular tag assigned (‘puppy’). You will end up seeing content from your selected collection, tagged with ‘puppy’.

Allow users to filter content by tag:

  • Scenario: You may want to ‘tag’ content during moderation with tag ‘womenshoes’ and ‘menshoes’ for example to help users find the content they are interested in.
  • Solution: When publishing an entry, assign your selected tag (i.e. ‘womenshoes’) to a piece of content. Then in the Settings section of a Social Wall module, under User Controls, enable toggle Allow users to filter content by tag.

Publishing Entries from Contests

When publishing entries to an Entries Gallery in a Contest of any type you will not be given an option to select a collection to publish entries to because, in contests, you are collecting UGC to display in the context of the campaign.  To publish an entry:

  • Open your Contest Experience, click ¬ Entries on the left navigation menu.
  • Highlight an entry you would like to Publish as content, click p Publish as content on the top menu bar or hover over the ¬ menu and click on p from there.
  • You can select multiple items at once with the Shift and/or Control keys.
  • On the Publish as a content screen, you can do the following:
    • Set the prominence of the UGC, which affects how UGC is displayed if certain Entries module layout styles are selected.
    • Assign tags, this allows you to create groups of content that can be used for filtering and sorting of content.
  • Click on y Save in top right-hand corner to publish your content. The status of that item will now be shown as Published, and will appear on your live campaign within the Entries module.

Once you publish an entry, the experience will automatically create a Collection in the Content section of the Cheetah Experiences Platform. You will be able to find it under the name of your experience and all published content will be in the “Published” section.

Contests Publishing Scenarios

Allow users to filter content by tag:

  • Scenario: You may want ‘tag’ content during moderation with tag ‘womenshoes’ and ‘menshoes’ for example to help users find the content they are interested in.
  • Solution: When publishing an entry, assign your selected tag (i.e. ‘womenshoes’) to a piece of content. Then in the Settings section of an Entries module, under User Controls, enable toggle Allow users to filter content by tag.

Only display entries that have been marked as 'Finalist' or 'Winner':

  • Scenario: Contests are supporting multiple phases and there may be an occasion when you want to have only the selected finalists or winners displayed in the entries gallery.
  • Solution: After you publish an entry, go ahead and click on to select your Public decision. Selections made here will be displayed to the public when your contest is in the Judging or Winner announcement phase. You can set this manually or use Winner Management to select winners and it will update this field for you automatically.

Use content collected in a Contest in another experience or social display:

  • Scenario: You may want to use a great piece of UGC in another experience of yours - maybe on an evergreen social wall on your product pages, or an in-venue collage in your store and more.
  • Solution: You can always select your Contest Collection as a source of a social wall or other social display. Alternatively, if you want to use just a few pieces of content, go to Content > your Collection > select content you want to reuse in another collection and click on 5 Copy to Collection and select the collection where you want the content to appear.

Publishing Content from Collections

Content Moderation is the process by which you curate and apply rules in a piece of content and save it within a collection for use in your social display. It isn't used for competition purposes unlike entries from UGC Giveaways and Contests.

There is a separate article that explains how to moderate, curate and manage your collected content. There are two ways to moderate content. You can moderate content within a collection or in a social display experience. Learn more about it here
