How to: Moderate UGC and UGC Entries

This article is a quick guide on how to moderate User Generated Content (UGC) either created from entry or from the feed-in your collection.

An overview of the relationship between an Entry and its UGC

When a user enters your experience, an entry record is created and is made available to view in the Entries area, if the entry also contained UGC, this is now exclusively handled in the content moderation area as a UGC Entry content item. This content item can then be Approved (Previously know as Publishing) or Rejected

The only action left that you can perform now in the Entry area is to Invalidate or Enable a previously invalidated entry (From the Excluded section).

For an overview of all the common features in the content moderation area, please see this article.

User permission requirements to moderate

You'll need to be an Admin or have the Moderate user-generated content permission to moderate UGC.

How to Approve UGC (Formerly Publish)

  1. Open your experience, on the left-hand navigation menu, click Curate and Review.
This will take you to the content moderation screen for experience collection in the default view, Needs Moderation.
  2. To display a UGC Entry item in your Social WallCarousel or Collage module, you will need to click Approve.
  3. Once approved it will then be displayed.

How to Reject UGC

The Reject action removes a UGC item from the display, it does not invalidate the entry. You will still need to invalidate an Entry if you do not wish to have it included in Winner management

  1. Open your experience, on the left-hand navigation menu, click Curate and Review.
This will take you to the content moderation screen for experience collection in the default view, Needs Moderation.
  2. Depending on the current state of the UGC you may need to switch the Moderation Status to see the content you wish to reject.
  3. Once you've located the UGC item you wish to remove from your experience display, click Reject. The entry will still be valid at this point.

How to invalidate an entry

From the Entries area of your experience, select an entry and simply click Invalidate.

Once you've invalidated an entry, this will be moved to the Excluded section, the Excluded section can be reached by clicking on the Entries item in the top left and selecting Excluded from the drop-down.

    • Winner
    • {x} Place

  3. Click Save once you're finished.

How to set a rating (Used in Winner Management)

If you wish to set a rating for a content item, you can do so following these steps, this is useful when you want to filter out content based on a rating value you assign it between 0 and 100, this also can be used in Winner management as selection criteria.

  1. Open the UGC item and click on the Review & Judge tab.
  2. Under Rating, type in a value from 0 to 100.
  3. Click Save once you're finished.

  2. In this section you will be able to update the following attributes of the UGC Entry content:
